HEAD COACH OMARI FORTS
Coach Omari Forts joined the Bulldog Family during the 2006-2007 school year. He is a Biology Teacher as well as the Head Boys Basketball Coach.
Coach's first season resulted in a 22-5 record and the team went on to finish the season as Region Runner Up. The team advanced to Sweet 16 where, in a very close game they lost to the defending State Runners Up. The overall record for the Bulldogs under Coach Forts' leadership is currently 52-44 (with six defeats, and the only losing season, occurred in Coach Forts absence while recovering major surgery). Our Basketball Program, during that time, produced a graduation rate of 100% (with 31 of 34 Seniors entering Post-Secondary Colleges and Universities).
Prior to arriving at Tri-Cities High, Coach Forts led Jefferson County High School from a 5-19 record his first year (six total players including four freshman and a sophomore) to a 17-11 record in his third and final season with a deep run into the playoffs. The original sophomore ended his career as a First Team All State Player, Career Single Game Scoring Leader (46), and All Area Player of the Year (First in the history of the school). Prior to rebuilding Jefferson County's Program, Coach Forts was the Assistant Head Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach at his Alma Mater Tallahassee Leon High School. During this time, Coach Forts won a City Championship, Region Championship, and advanced to the State Tournament.
Coach Forts has excelled in the area of player skill development (Under the tutelage of former National Junior College Recruiter of the Year Barry Taylor (Founder of the 231 Skills Academy)) and as a Camp Counselor and Station Director at Five-Star Basketball Camp.
During his time as a Counselor and Station Director at Five-Star, Coach Forts worked with a wide range of players including Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Chris Paul, Shawn Taggert to name a few. While working with the 231 Skills Academy, Coach Forts concentrated on player development with Jermaine Taylor (University of Central Florida and Houston Rockets), International Players Franklin Young, (University of West Virginia All Tiime Leader in 3pt's made), Donte Ginnie (Georgia Southern University), Tyrell Blair (University of Boston College)Bryan Harrison (Georgia College), Brian Greene (Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University).and, Akini Adkins (University of Alabama), DeAndre Ross (South Alabama and Troy State University), Current University of North Florda Coach and former Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Starter Byron Taylor.
The 231 Skills Academy specializes in developing player versitility and preparing students who possess a high drive and ambition to play basketball collegiately and professionally to meet their goals!
Coach Forts stresses to all young student athletes the importance of commitment, hard work, and humility and their relationship to all aspects of life. It is his goal to build high character young men and women through basketball and the life lessons it provides. Coach Forts is an EXTREMELY proud husband and father of two.
